Welcome to Pennsylvania General Energy.
You will find detailed information on this website about our company, about the way we do business and about oil and gas development in the Appalachian Basin. Oil and gas production has a rich past in this region that dates back to Col. Edwin Drake’s first well in 1859, and, given our country’s need for new and “home-grown” sources of energy, its future is as exciting as its past.
The pages of this website provide an inside look at how PGE identifies new oil and gas reserves and develops its wells in a safe and responsible manner, and how we focus on creating positive and sustained relationships with the people we engage in the course of operating our business. On behalf of PGE’s growing workforce, I hope you find this site to be informative and helpful.
Feel free to go to the “Contact Us” page if you have any questions or would like additional information about Pennsylvania General Energy.
Sincerely,
Douglas E. Kuntz

An Introduction to PGE
![]() |
| PGE’s commitment to the local community is reflected in the company’s purchase and rehabilitation of the former Market Street Elementary School building. The building now serves as PGE’s corporate offices, generating local taxes and putting more workers in downtown Warren each day. |
PGE is a Warren, Pennsylvania-based company that has been quietly and successfully producing oil and gas for more than 25 years. PGE currently operates more than 1,100 oil and gas wells. Our company has become a leading energy production company in the Appalachian Basin.
We utilize a number of technologies to discover and develop our oil and gas wells, often in areas that have been overlooked by other companies. PGE’s geologists and engineers often rely on two or three-dimensional seismic testing to identify oil and gas reserves, and use many advanced techniques such as horizontal drilling to stay in the forefront of our industry.
PGE is proud of its contributions to the regional economy and natural environment, as reflected in the company’s motto: “Producing the energy we need, protecting the environment we treasure.” The company’s natural gas is sold to local suppliers and its oil is shipped to local refineries that employ hundreds of our region’s workers, making a significant contribution to our economy.
We adhere to all applicable state environmental requirements, and use the industry’s best management practices in every aspect of planning, constructing and operating our wells.
